Evan R. Chesler, Esq

A litigation partner at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, LLP for over 40 years. He was elected to the partnership after only 5 1/2 years as an associate and served as Head of the Litigation Department, Presiding Partner and the first named Chairman of the Firm.

During his time at the Firm, Evan tried over 50 cases before juries, judges and arbitrators. He argued dozens of appeals, appearing in every federal circuit, the highest courts of 10 states and the U. S. Supreme Court. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has been recognized as among the best trial lawyers in the United States by virtually every legal periodical. He has represented clients in every major sector of the economy for their most challenging assignments.

Evan has also devoted much of his time to public service. He served as Chairman of the New York Public Library for 8 years. He has long served as a Trustee of his alma mater, New York University and of his law school, New York University School of Law. He currently serves as Chairman of NYU’s Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the Council of the American Law Institute and President of the Board of the Institute of Judicial Administration.
